The Rockies to the Red Rocks is Rocky Mountaineer's newest route, and has been extended in 2026 to create this 3 day train journey between Denver, Colorado, and Salt Lake City, Utah, with included overnight stays in Glenwood Springs, Colorado (where you can soak in their famous hot springs) and Moab, Utah (where you can access world famous National Parks such as Arches and Canyonlands). The train travels only during the day and features oversized windows, so your do not miss a moment of dramatic landscape which includes canyons, winding rivers, rugged mountain passes and the high desert.

This Canyon Spirit train (formally the Rocky Mountaineer) connects two vibrant destinations, making it the perfect centerpiece for a Western train adventure in the States. Despite the name change, if you have travelled onboard the Rocky Mountaineer train before, return guest discounts still apply when you book through us. This "rail only" package is the absolute minimum you can book.

This Rockies to the Red Rocks route showcases scenic views that are unique to the Southwest United States, as you travel between the states of Colorado and Utah. Between Denver and Glenwood Springs, you will journey alongside the Colorado River and through a series of canyons with steep, rugged rock walls. The route between Glenwood Springs and Moab offers a variety of scenery, including mountain vistas, desert cliffs and rock formations which were sculpted by nature millions of years ago. As the train travels north from Moab to Salt Lake City, the scenery transitions into rolling high desert and canyon country, where layered cliffs, river corridors, and sagebrush plains dominate the view. Farther along, the land gradually rises and cools, introducing pinyon pine, juniper, and broad valleys. Near Salt Lake City, the desert gives way to the imposing Wasatch Mountains, with greener terrain and alpine foothills marking the journey’s end.
