First Passage to the West Discovery Self-Drive - 5 nights
This Vancouver to Calgary one way eastbound itinerary gives you the freedom to travel at your own pace through Banff National Park and Yoho National Park as you drive yourself between Banff, Lake Louise and Calgary. Included is one night in a handpicked hotel in Banff, followed by one night in the luxurious Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel, overlooking breathtaking Lake Louise and the Victoria Glacier.
This package includes the luxury of 2 days onboard the Rocky Mountaineer train in SilverLeaf or GoldLeaf service from Vancouver to Banff, and the rest is self-drive from Banff and Lake Louise to Calgary. Disembarking the train in Banff, rather than Lake Louise, gives you additional time onboard to enjoy the scenery of Banff National Park, which includes Morant's Curve (pictured above).
Please be aware that due to the elevation of the Canadian Rockies, the weather can be unpredictable any time of the year, especially during the winter, spring and autumn months. If you are not comfortable driving in potentially wintry conditions, then you should consider the 5 night First Passage to the West Highlights (Eastbound) package instead.
This itinerary is available in reverse, starting in Calgary on Sundays, Thursdays and some Mondays.
This itinerary does not include Jasper. We can customize this itinerary to include an overnight in Jasper with the First Passage to the West rail route. If you have more time, you should consider the 7 night Journey Through The Clouds Discovery Self-Drive vacation. This rail and self-drive package includes the Rocky Mountaineer train to Jasper from Vancouver and two nights in Jasper.
