The Rockies to the Red Rocks is Rocky Mountaineer's newest route and has been extended in 2026 to create this 3 day train journey between Salt Lake City, Utah, and Denver, Colorado, with included overnight stays in Moab, Utah (where you can access world famous National Parks such as Arches and Canyonlands) and Glenwood Springs, Colorado (where you can soak in their famous hot springs). The train travels only during the day and features oversized windows, so your do not miss a moment of the dramatic landscape which includes canyons, winding rivers, rugged mountain passes and the high desert.

This Canyon Spirit train (formally the Rocky Mountaineer) connects two vibrant destinations, making it the perfect centerpiece for a Western train adventure in the States. This Rockies to the Red Rocks route highlights the dramatic landscapes of the Southwest United States as you travel from Utah to Colorado. Departing Salt Lake City, the journey begins near the imposing Wasatch Mountains, where greener terrain and alpine foothills gradually fade into broader valleys. As the train heads south toward Moab, the land slowly lowers and warms, shifting into rolling high desert and canyon country defined by sagebrush plains, river corridors, and layered cliffs. Continuing from Moab to Glenwood Springs, the scenery becomes increasingly diverse, blending desert cliffs and ancient rock formations with sweeping mountain vistas shaped by natural forces over millions of years. From Glenwood Springs to Denver, the route follows the Colorado River through a dramatic series of canyons, where steep, rugged rock walls rise sharply alongside the tracks, marking the final stretch of this scenic journey through the heart of the American West.
