Rocky Mountaineer Train, Morant's Curve, Banff National Park

First Passage to the West Discovery Self-Drive - 5 nights

This Calgary to Vancouver one way westbound itinerary gives you the freedom to travel at your own pace through Banff National Park and Yoho National Park as you drive yourself between Calgary, Lake Louise and Banff. Included is one night in the luxurious Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel, overlooking breathtaking Lake Louise and the Victoria Glacier, followed by one night in a handpicked hotel in Banff.

This package includes the luxury of 2 days onboard the Rocky Mountaineer train in SilverLeaf or GoldLeaf service from Banff to Vancouver, and the rest is self-drive from Calgary to Lake Louise and Banff. Boarding the train in Banff, rather than Lake Louise, gives you additional time onboard to enjoy the scenery of Banff National Park, which includes Morant's Curve (pictured above).

Please be aware that due to the elevation of the Canadian Rockies, the weather can be unpredictable any time of the year, especially during the winter, spring and autumn months. If you are not comfortable driving in potentially wintry conditions, then you should consider the 5 night First Passage to the West Highlights (Westbound) package instead.

This itinerary is available in reverse, starting in Vancouver on Sundays, Thursdays and some Mondays.

This itinerary does not include Jasper. We can customize this itinerary to include an overnight in Jasper with the First Passage to the West rail route. If you have more time, you should consider the 7 night Journey Through The Clouds Discovery Self-Drive vacation. This rail and self-drive package includes two nights in Jasper before taking the Rocky Mountaineer train to Vancouver.
